THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CAMDEN (HACC)JOINING
FORCES WITH ITS RESIDENTS IN THE SPIRIT OF UNITY
The Housing Authority of the City of Camden (HACC) will host its first
"Volunteering For Progress In Our Communities" Day on
Saturday, September 6, 2003 at 10:00 a.m., at all its public housing
sites. The event will kick off at Branch Village located at 10th &
Ferry Streets, Camden, NJ 08104.
This event will serve two purposes: 1) It will allow for our residents
from the developments we serve to come out and help in the
beautification of their neighborhoods and 2) kick off a back-to-school
drive.
The plan for the day includes a kick off from Branch Village with Dr.
Maria Marquez, Executive Director and Camden City Officials giving
brief remarks, thereafter. Volunteer Crews will be out to paint boiler
room doors, curves, cleaning the sites and local community based
organizations will set up information tables distributing literature
of services they provide. Radio Station 103.9 and air personality
Michael Sean will provide music, games and give-aways.
Residents participating will receive "Back-to-School" Gift
Certificates to redeem at HACC main offices September 10, 2003. The
gift certificates will assist families with expenses normally incurred
in the purchasing of school supplies for their children.
Dr. Maria Marquez, stated "I am very proud of the community
support involved in the planning of this event. Sponsors include,
Ingerman, Pennrose Properties, Inc., Interstate Realty, Corp., and
Michael's Development, Corp. We look forward in helping the
residents take pride in their neighborhoods. We hope to make this a
day of spirit filled unity and family fun that will make lasting
memories for everyone."
