THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF CAMDEN JOINS FORCES WITH
THE CAMDEN CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT IN "NATIONAL NIGHT
OUT"
The Housing Authority of the City of Camden (HACC) in partnership with
the Camden City Police Department will join in with the National
Association of Town Watch for "NATIONAL NIGHT
OUT" on Tuesday, August 5, 2003 from 7:00p.m. to
10:00p.m.
National Night Out is designed to: Heighten Crime Prevention
Awareness, generate support for and participation in local anti-crime
programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit in the crime prevention
campaign, and send a message to criminals, letting them know that
neighborhoods across the U.S.A. are organized and fighting back.
In support the residents of HACC will turn on their outside lights,
front and back entrances, throughout their neighborhoods.
"Residents in Camden and across the nation will be asked to spend
at least an hour on porches, lawns, steps, etc. In conjunction with
the vigil, police departments across the country will be monitoring
the evening's crime activity to help measure the effectiveness of
the nationwide Sit Out."
The Resident Leaders of the HACC in conjunction with the resident
leaders throughout the City of Camden on that night will work in the
spirit of unity in bringing residents together for this common cause.
Dr. Maria Marquez, Executive Director, stated "She is in full
support of the "National Night Out" and hopes the residents
throughout the Authority and the City of Camden participate fully in
this worthwhile endeavor. Working together, we can regain our
communities."
